President Cao Derong met with Izzana Salleh, secretary-general of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) on March 12. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in sustainable palm oil between China and palm oil producing countries including Indonesia and Malaysia.

According to customs statistics, China imported 4.07 million tons of palm oil and its products in 2025, with an import value of 4.896 billion US dollars. Palm oil imports accounted for 50.75% of China's total vegetable oil imports. In terms of consumption volume, palm oil ranks third, following soybean oil and rapeseed oil.
