According to Chinese Customs, in the first 4 months of 2013, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 56.48 billion USD, up by 4.5% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 20.68 billion USD, a 7.3% year-on-year increase, while the import was 35.79 billion USD, a 2.9% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 15.11 billion USD, a 2.6% decrease over the same period of last year. The growth of agricultural trade was 9.5% lower than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural import was 7.7% lower than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import, while the growth of agricultural export was 10.1% lower than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.6% of the country¡¯s total import.
