According to Chinese Customs, in the first 3 months of 2013, China¡¯s import and export value of agricultural products amounted to 41.14 billion USD, up by 3.2% over the same period of last year. Among that, the export value was 15.05 billion USD, a 5.2% year-on-year increase, while the import was 26.09 billion USD, a 2% year-on-year growth. The trade deficit of agricultural products amounted to 11.04 billion USD, a 2% decrease over the same period of last year. It is the first decrease since February 2010. The growth of agricultural trade was 10.2% lower than that of the nation¡¯s total foreign trade. The growth rate of agricultural import was 12.1% lower than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total import, while the growth of agricultural export was 13.2% lower than the growth rate of the nation¡¯s total export. The export of agricultural products accounted for 3% of China¡¯s total export value, while the import of such products accounted for 5.6% of the country¡¯s total import.
