Sino-U.S. Soybean Contract Signing Ceremony Held in U.S.

The seminar on trade promotion between Chinese provinces and U.S. Stateof Iowa and the contract signing ceremony, hosted by CFNA, United Soybean Board (USB), and Iowa Soybean Association was held on Oct. 14th in Des Moines, U.S.   Around 50 people attended the ceremony. President BianZhenhu andpresident of USB Jim Miller, made the opening speech. Terry Branstad, governor of Iowa State, Liu Jun, Deputy Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Chicago, Pei Shixin, Deputy Director General of the Department Of Commerce of Hebei Province, Wang Jingming, Deputy Director General of the Department Of Commerce of Liaoning Province delivered keynote speech. Si Shengli, chairman of Henan Sunshine Group Corporation, delivered the speech entitled Outlook of China¡¯s Soybean Market and Trade. Bill Northey, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, and representatives of U.S. and Chinese companies had discussions on Chinese market.

Nearly twenty Chinese and U.S. representatives from large-scale cereal and oil import and export companies, including COFCO Corporation, SinograinOils Corporation, Jiusan Oils & Grains Industries Group, Shandong Bohi Industry Corporation, Cargill, Bunge, Louis Dreyfus etc. took part in the ceremony. The total amount of the contract reached 5.1 million tons, which worth around 2.1 billion U.S. dollars.
